2012-2013 Winter and Summer Meet Schedules Released

Bar Harbor, ME – The Maine Swimming, Inc. 2012-2013 Winter and Summer Meet schedules have been released.

Maine Swimming will be offering 11 closed USA-S sanction meets this winter, starting with the Harvest Classic hosted by Seacoast Swim Club on Sunday, October 14th. Returning to the meet schedule for the 19th time is the Bowdoin Open host by the Bowdoin College Swimming and Diving Team and the Brunswick Area Swimming Association on December 7-9, 2012 and everyone’s favorite meet of the year the Dennis Connolly Winter Swim Your Own Age Meet host by the Westbrook Seals on January 12-13, 2013.

There are few new meets that have been added to the schedule, the first one is on December 29th at Bowdoin College hosted by Maine Swimming. There will be more information about this meet at a later time. The biggest change for this year is that there is no longer a Bronze Classic, Senior Meet or a Eight and Under Championships Meet. This meet has been replaced with three different qualifier meets one in November which is an open meet with no cut times, one in January which will have cut times and one in March which will serve as a last chance meet. All three meets are closed to registered athlete members of Maine LSC and Master Swimmers who live in the State of Maine. These meets have been broken into two different regions a Northern and Southern. The reasoning behind this is for better attended meets, to try to cut down the traveling expenses for swimming families and to help prepare and develop our swimmers throughout the season toward the Championship Meets.

The following teams are part of the Northern Region and must attend the Northern Meets: BYB, HSC, CCSC, PRY, PBAY, MDIY, MMD, KVY, WCY and DEFY and the Southern Region is made up of: LRSC, CMA, WCCU, BBYD, BASA, SYT, SEAL, PPSC, SSC, TCST, PTSC, NYCY & CBRY and they must attend the Southern Region Meets.

Maine Swimming will be offering a Coaches Symposium on October 6th, 2012 from 1:00PM to 5:00PM at Bowdoin College and will be conducted by College Swimming and Diving Coaches from the State of Maine. The coaches symposium is open to all coaches in the state and there will be a barbeque afterwards.

The 2013 Maine Swimming, Inc. Winter Combined Championship will begin on Thursday, March 15th and finish on March 18th at the LeRoy Gleason Pool on the Campus of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. The 2013 Eastern Zone Winter Short Course Swimming Championships will be from March 25-28, 2013 at the Webster Aquatic Center in Webster, New York.

Absent from the 2012-2013 Winter Meet Schedule is the Maine Swimming, Inc. Awards Banquet and Maine Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony which have been push back to October of 2013.
